How to Book a Fancy Number in Delhi via Parivahan Portal?

Booking a fancy number in Delhi is easy and fully online through the official Parivahan portal. Whether you want a unique number for your car, bike, or scooter, Delhi residents can choose from two main allotment methods, on-the-spot (first come, first served) and e-auction, or retain their existing registration mark. Below are the details for each process.

On-the-Spot Allotment (First Come, First Served)

This option is for non-premium numbers (like 4567, 1989, or other numbers not in premium categories 1–4), allotted instantly on a first-come, first-served basis.

1. Visit parivahan.gov.in, go to Online Services > Fancy Number Booking.
2. Log in as a Delhi applicant or create a new user account.
3. After login, select First Come First Serve Process.
4. Choose your vehicle category and series, then enter the desired number (except premium categories).
5. Complete the applicant registration form.
6. Enter the captcha and proceed to payment.
7. Pay the fee of ₹25,000 for your chosen number.
8. Download your payment receipt—valid for 90 days.

E-Auction of Fancy Numbers

Premium and highly sought-after numbers (such as 0001, 0002–0009, 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777, etc.) are allotted through an online e-auction process.

1. Visit parivahan.gov.in, go to Online Services > Fancy Number Booking.
2. Log in as a Delhi applicant or register as a new user.
3. After login, select the e-Auction process.
4. Select your preferred number from the available list and click Continue.
5. Complete the registration form and captcha, accept the terms, and proceed to payment.
6. Pay the initial auction fee via the SBI e-Pay gateway.
7. Participate in the online bidding for your selected number.
8. If you win, pay the balance amount and download your allotment letter (valid for 90 days).

Retention of Existing Registration Mark

If you wish to retain your old registration number for a new vehicle (car, jeep, or two-wheeler):

• Pay ₹25,000 for four-wheelers or ₹2,500 for two-wheelers.
• Retention is allowed only if the registration mark has been registered in your name for a minimum of three years as of the date of application.

Eligibility and Instructions for Delhi Applicants

• Only residents or entities based in Delhi can participate in the e-auction or booking.
• Both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles are eligible.
• The list of premium numbers and their minimum reserve prices is published before each auction round.
