Škoda Kylaq Achieves 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Škoda Kylaq sets a new safety benchmark with its impressive 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP testing.

The Škoda Kylaq, the brand’s first sub-4-meter SUV, has achieved a remarkable 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme). This milestone makes the Kylaq the first Škoda vehicle to undergo Bharat NCAP testing, reinforcing the company’s commitment to safety that has already been established with the Kushaq and Slavia models, both of which also received 5-star ratings in Global NCAP tests for adult and child occupant protection.

Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, emphasized the importance of safety in Škoda’s ethos. He stated, “Safety is intrinsic to the Škoda DNA. Since 2008, every Škoda car has been crash-tested globally, achieving a 5-star safety rating. We were pioneers in securing full 5-stars for both adults and children under Global NCAP tests. Now, with the Kylaq, our all-new sub-4-meter SUV, we have set a new benchmark in its segment within Bharat NCAP testing.” The Kylaq comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including six airbags and advanced structural integrity through hot-stamped steel and an optimized crash management system.

The Škoda Kylaq showcases over 25 active and passive safety technologies as standard across all variants. Built on the robust MQB-A0-IN platform, it combines advanced engineering tailored for Indian driving conditions. Key safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Roll Over Protection, Hill Hold Control, Multi-Collision Braking, and XDS+, all standard from the base model.

Previously, the Škoda Kushaq set new safety standards in October 2022 by becoming the first car manufactured in India to achieve a 5-star rating under Global NCAP’s stringent protocols. Following this success, the Škoda Slavia also earned a 5-star rating in April 2023. With the introduction of the Kylaq, Škoda Auto India continues its legacy of prioritizing world-class safety standards tailored specifically for the Indian market.
