The TomTom Traffic Index 2024 has unveiled its comprehensive analysis of traffic conditions across 500 cities in 62 countries, shedding light on travel times and congestion levels. This year’s report, the largest to date, utilizes data from over 600 million connected devices, including in-car navigation systems and mobile applications, to paint a detailed picture of global traffic trends.
The findings reveal significant challenges in urban mobility, with 379 of the 500 cities experiencing decreased average speeds compared to the previous year. Notably, three Indian cities—Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Pune—rank among the most congested globally. Kolkata stands out as one of the top contenders for traffic congestion, with an average travel time of 34 minutes and 33 seconds for every 10 kilometers traveled.
