TVS Motor Company has unveiled the Jupiter CNG at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, marking the world’s first factory-fitted CNG scooter. This innovative model is designed to cater to eco-conscious riders while maintaining the familiar features of the popular Jupiter series.
The Jupiter CNG features a 1.4 kg CNG tank positioned under the seat, where the standard storage compartment would typically be found. The tank is neatly covered with a plastic panel that includes an eyelet for monitoring pressure and a filler nozzle. TVS claims that the scooter can travel up to 84 km on just one kilogram of CNG, contributing to its appeal as a fuel-efficient option.
In addition to the CNG tank, the scooter is equipped with a 2-litre petrol tank located in the floorboard area, similar to the existing Jupiter 125 model. This dual-fuel capability allows for a combined range of approximately 226 km when utilizing both fuel sources.
Powering the Jupiter CNG is a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 7.1 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The scooter can reach a top speed of 80 km/h, making it suitable for urban commuting.
The overall design and ergonomics of the Jupiter CNG remain consistent with those of the petrol-powered Jupiter 125, including its wheels, brakes, and other features. However, it does incorporate updated instrumentation to reflect its bi-fuel capabilities.
Currently, the Jupiter CNG is still in the concept stage, and TVS has not announced a specific launch date for its market introduction in India. However, it is anticipated that this model could be available later this year if feedback from the expo is positive. Pricing is expected to fall between ₹90,000 and ₹1 lakh upon release.
