Measures to Reduce Vehicle Theft & Fraudulent Sales by MoRTH Soon

MoRTH Rules for vehicle sales transport nagari

Vehicle theft has been on the rise in the country, with thieves able to easily sell stolen vehicles by transporting them to other parts of the country. Many individuals unknowingly purchase stolen vehicles at a discounted price, leading to the Ministry of Road Transport taking action to prevent the fraudulent sale of such vehicles.

To address this issue, the Ministry has implemented new regulations designed to identify legitimate dealers and vehicles and to prevent the sale of stolen vehicles. These regulations, which will go into effect on April 1, 2023, involve updates to Chapter III of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, and aim to increase transparency in the automotive industry.

As part of these new regulations, a certificate will be issued to verify the legitimacy of dealers involved in the sale of used vehicles, in order to protect consumers from being tricked. The dealer and vehicle owner will also have a clearer understanding of their roles and responsibilities. In addition, dealers will be able to apply for new registration certificates, certificates of fitness, NOCs, or change of ownership for vehicles, and the use of electronic trip registers for vehicles may also become mandatory.
