More Electric Cars from Hyundai Coming to India

On Tuesday, Hyundai Motor Group from South Korea shared its exciting plan. They want to bring more electric vehicles (EVs) from their Hyundai and Kia brands to India. This shows that they believe India, which is the world’s third-largest car market, is a great place to focus on.

Hyundai is already the second-largest car company in India when it comes to sales. They have two electric models available right now, the Kona and Ioniq 5 SUVs. But they’re not stopping there – by 2032, they’re planning to introduce five more EV models. They’re also going to expand their charging stations to 439 by 2027, making it easier for people to charge their electric cars. This means more cool electric cars to choose from and more places to charge them up!

Kia has exciting plans! Starting from 2025, they’ll be making smaller electric cars. They’re also working on setting up more places where you can charge these electric cars, and they want to make their sales network bigger too. Their goal is to become even more popular in India and have 10 out of every 100 cars be a Kia, up from the current 6.7 out of 100.

Hyundai, another cool car company, is also investing a lot of money, about $2.45 billion, to make more electric cars in India. They really believe that people in India are going to love electric cars.

Both Kia and Hyundai see India as a really important place for electric cars – both making them and selling them. They’re both really excited about this!

They think that by 2030, the number of electric cars sold will be 1 million. This is a big increase from the 48,105 electric cars sold in the country in the year 2023, as reported by a group in the industry that gathers information.

This big number might even include Teslas, as the company led by Elon Musk is planning to sell electric cars that they make in the country.
