Ola Electric Unveils Early Access to Ola S1 Air Purchase Window, Shipping to Commence Soon

Ola Electric surprised its customers by launching the purchase window for its latest escooter model, the Ola S1 Air, a day ahead of its scheduled plans. The announcement was made during a live video streaming session on Thursday (July 27) a day earlier than the planned day, with Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder and CEO, sharing the news. According to Aggarwal, the startup is all set to begin shipping the Ola S1 Air early next month, with the gradual delivery process expected to be completed within the next 10-15 days. The purchase window will remain open until July 30, offering an exclusive opportunity to early buyers.

The journey to launch the Ola S1 Air has been almost a year-long, following its initial announcement in October 2022. Initially slated to open for purchase in February 2023, the delivery timeline was projected for April 2023.

For early ‘reservers,’ the Ola S1 Air is available at a special introductory price of INR 1,09,999, while the ex-showroom price will be INR 1,19,999. The latest escooter model offers a more budget-friendly option, with the Ola S1 Pro priced at INR 1,39,999 and the Ola S1 priced at INR 1,29,999.

Excitingly, Ola Electric is not stopping there. During the live session, Aggarwal revealed that the company is actively working on more interesting new products. Further product and business updates are anticipated to be announced on August 15.

Notably, Ola Electric has already revealed plans to enter the electric four-wheeler market, with Aggarwal announcing the intention in August last year. Additionally, the startup has commenced construction of the largest gigafactory in the country at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

Aggarwal expressed his excitement about the progress, stating, “We’ve just started constructing our cell factory. By the end of this year, we will have the factory complete. Next year, we will start putting our own cells in our vehicles.”

With more e-scooter models and electric motorcycles in the pipeline, Ola Electric is ambitiously aiming for a public listing early next year, with a market cap target of $10 Bn. The company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings and infrastructure marks a significant stride towards a sustainable and greener future.
